Chapter 3: Spartan M-1

"Admiral Howell! There's been a massive explosion on the Planet Salphara!", one of the assistants on the Space Station 147 said as he frantically ran towards the Admiral. The admiral, looking through the large glass window at the front of the ship already knew this, having seen the explosion first hand. Turning to him he said, "I know already. What are the coordinates of the explosion?" The assistant searched through his papers and said, "It came from 56 degrees north and 20 degrees east, which was where Patrol Unit 3 was located sir." Admiral Howell grew a grim look on his face. "There is no way they could have survived that explosion, send the reports of their deaths to the main headquarters." The assistant nodded and ran down the corridors to the main room. Turning back to the site of the planet, a thought went through his head, causing him to smile. "Professor Collins!" he yelled, making the professor run to him. "What is it Admiral?" he replied. "How is our little...experiment going?"

"It's still being tested, but it seems to be working efficiently," replied the professor. "Please come with me," he said walking to the lab with the admiral behind him. "As you can see..." he said pointing to the windows that showed the training facility. "He's been enhanced with our latest equipment, assault rifle arms, 100% reinforced adamantium armor, and our latest jetpack technology." The being was known as Spartan M-1. It was a new type of Spartan soldier, only it was all machine, and 3 times larger. It was equipped with every firearm known to man, an unstoppable force, even to Spartan 117.

"I think it's time to put him to use professor," said the Admiral, watching the machine take out all the obstacles in his way. "Sir, it's not ready for combat yet. We haven't been able to establish full control over it! There is still a chance it will go berserk!" replied the professor. "That's an order professor! Deploy it to planet Salphara, coordinates 56 degrees north, 20 degrees east in no less then five minutes!" yelled the admiral, stomping out of the training lab.

The professor let out a long sigh and radioed the rest of the crew. "Deploy Spartan M-1 to the planet Salphara." With that said, the machine entered a flight capsule and within moments was launched to Salphara.

Admiral Howell watched as he saw the small light head towards the explosion site. "Let's see how far the Covenants can get with him around," he said smiling as he left the room.
